Beginnings of Wine & BamVino

The WHY behind the Wine

Robbie Olivier has always been curious about how things work — not just as individual components, but as complete systems. That mindset comes from engineering, where precision, timing, and understanding how each part contributes to the whole determine the outcome. Over time, that same perspective carried into his interest in wine.

A visit to Napa Valley, where he spent time with winemaker Grant Long Jr., reinforced that connection. What stood out wasn’t just the product, but the process behind it — the science, the art, and the timing required to bring everything together correctly. For Robbie, wine felt familiar in that way: structured, intentional, and dependent on decisions that build on each other over time.

That appreciation turned into a deeper passion for wine itself. He was drawn to the craft, the discipline behind it, and how closely it mirrors engineering — where precision matters and timing can change everything. That interest eventually led him to create his own wine labels under Olivier Wine, focused on storytelling, process, and marking meaningful moments.

That mindset carried into his podcast, Wino with Ryno, where conversations often expanded beyond wine into sports, business, and life after competition. When Pete Bush joined as a guest, the discussion naturally turned to baseball and their shared background as graduates of Louisiana State University.

As the conversation unfolded, a BAMVINO wine holder sat in the background. Pete noted it during the episode and explained he had created it — a detail Robbie hadn’t fully known at the time. The conversation moved easily between baseball, wine, and the shared appreciation for process and design. That moment became the early spark of a shared vision that would grow into BAMVINO Wine Collaboration.
